In the name of God Amen! I John Bowman Sen. Of the County of Rockingham state of Virginia am very sick of Body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to god for the same and calling to mind the Mortality of my Body I do make and publish my last Will and Testament in the manner following first I will that all my Just Debt and funeral Expenses be fully paid and satisfied then I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Magdalene Bowman the Two Beds in the room the Clock the pipe stove the Kitchen Dresser with all whats in and on it and the Kitchen furniture the Table chairs Dough Trough one cow four sheep the Bible Starks prayer Book and yearly Interest during her natural life my son George is also to give her yearly twelve Bushels of Wheat and four Bushels corn to let it be grind and bring her the flour and one hundred and fifty pounds weighing hog and fifty weight of Beef during her natural life I also give her two chest my son George Bowman is also to find her fire wood chopt fit in the stove and find her every two weeks a quart of whiskey during her natural life I also give her all the yarn hemp and wool I have at present It is also my Will that my son George Bowman shall have the place he now lives on - consisting of two tracts containing three hundred and ninety eight and one quarter acres and to my son John Bowman I give the place he lives on containing three hundred and seventy four acres heirs or assigns I also will that the Lane shall be kept open that sd John can come to the water as usual forever forever and to each of my Daughters I give two Hundred pounds to my Daughter Elizabeth Roller Two Hundred pounds Virginia currency to my Daughter Barbara Shaffer Two Hundred pounds like money to Catherine Carrier Two Hundred pounds like money and to my Daughter Mary Miller Two Hundred pounds like money I will that each of my Daughters shall have fifty pounds one year after my Decease of which my son George Bowman is to pay One Hundred and fifty pounds and my son John Fifty pounds yearly till their Legacies is paid I will that my still and Boiler be sold at publick Vendue with my other moveable property and the money arising therefrom I will to be equally Divided amongst my Children as their names above mentioned Lastly I do ordain constitute and appoint my sons George and John Bowman Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament hoping that they will perform the same according to my true intent and Meaning revoking all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made Ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of March one thousand Eight hundred and Sixteen

This Last will and Testament of John Bowman Deceased was presented in Court and proved by the oaths of Jacob Miller & Jacob May two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the Motion of John Bowman and George Bowman the Executors named in the said will who entered into bond with Security and took the oath required by law a Certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate in Due form
